How the tools work
CareerPDF is a set of static files: HTML, JavaScript and CSS served by a content delivery network. When you open a tool, your browser downloads that code once. When you add a file, the code reads it from your disk into the memory of the tab and processes it there with two open-source engines: pdf-lib, which edits PDF structure, and pdf.js, which renders pages. The result is saved directly to your downloads folder.
There is no upload endpoint, no processing server and no database of documents. We could not look at your files even if we wanted to, because they never reach us.
Verify it yourself in two minutes
You do not have to take our word for it. Any of these checks works in a normal browser:
- Watch the network: open Developer Tools (F12), choose the Network tab, then process a file. You will see no request carrying your document; only the app’s own code and icons, if they were not cached already.
- Go offline: load a tool once, switch off Wi-Fi or enable airplane mode, then use it. It keeps working, which would be impossible if it needed a server.
- Check the security header: in the Network tab, select the page request and look at the Content-Security-Policy response header. It contains connect-src 'self', which forbids the page from sending data to any other domain.
- Use the live counter on the home page: it lists every request this page has made to other domains since it opened. It should read zero.
What is stored on your device
Some data is kept in your own browser so the tools are convenient. None of it is sent to us:
- Resume draft: saved in local storage so it survives a refresh. Delete it with “Start blank” or by clearing this site’s data.
- Workspace: when you pass a file from one tool to the next, it is kept in IndexedDB for this tab only, deleted as soon as the next tool opens it, and removed automatically after 30 minutes or when a new session starts. “Clear workspace” deletes it immediately.
- App cache: a service worker stores the site’s code and icons so it loads fast and works offline. It never stores your documents.
- Language choice: if you pick a language, that choice is remembered.
- Install counter: the first time CareerPDF is opened as an installed app on a device, it sends one anonymous message to this site with only the device family (for example “android” or “windows”). It is added to a daily total. No IP address, cookie, browser details or identifier is stored, and your files are never part of it.
What the hosting provider can see
Like every website, the network that delivers our pages sees ordinary request information such as your IP address, the page you open and your browser type, and may keep short-lived technical logs for security and reliability. It never sees your files, because they are never sent.
CareerPDF does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics. If this changes, this page and the site’s security policy will change with it, and the live counter will show the new requests.
Honest limits
Local processing protects your files from third parties, but it cannot protect them from malware already on your device. Signatures placed with the Sign tool are images, not certified digital signatures. Watermarks deter misuse but are not encryption.
