In short

CareerPDF splits a PDF in your browser: type pages such as 1-3, 5, 8- or tap thumbnails, then download one PDF or a ZIP of separate files. Pages are copied without quality loss and the file is never uploaded.

Splitting a PDF means taking only the pages you need from a larger document: the two pages of a bank statement you were asked for, the chapter you want to send, or each invoice from a scan of a whole month. CareerPDF splits files in your browser with three modes that cover almost every case.

You describe the pages with a simple range syntax. “1-3, 5, 8-” means pages one to three, page five, and page eight to the end. The tool checks every range against the real page count and tells you exactly which part is wrong before doing anything.

How to split a PDF in four steps

  1. 1

    Step 1: Open your PDF

Drop the file or choose it with the keyboard. The page count appears immediately so you know which numbers are valid.

  2. 2

Step 2: Choose a split mode

Extract selected pages into one new PDF, save each range as its own PDF, or split the whole document every N pages, for example every 2 pages for double-sided forms.

  3. 1-3, 5, 8-3

    Step 3: Enter the pages

Type ranges separated by commas. Use “8-” for page eight to the end and “-3” for the first three pages. Duplicate pages in extract mode are included only once.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Download the result

A single PDF downloads directly and can be passed to the next tool. Several files are bundled into one ZIP archive so your browser does not ask to allow multiple downloads.

Zero-Server

Splitting sensitive documents without handing them over

People usually split a file precisely because it contains more than they want to share: a full bank statement, a complete medical record, an entire HR file. Uploading the whole document to a website to remove the sensitive parts defeats the purpose.

With CareerPDF the complete file never leaves your device. Pages are copied into new documents by the pdf-lib engine running in your tab, and the ZIP archive is written in memory by a small built-in ZIP writer. Only the pages you chose end up in your downloads folder.

When to split a PDF

  • Sending only the relevant pages of a statement or report.
  • Breaking a scanned batch of invoices or forms into separate files.
  • Removing cover pages or appendices before sharing a document.
  • Getting under an upload size limit by sending a document in parts.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write page ranges?

Separate items with commas: a single page (5), a range (1-3), an open range to the end (8-) or from the start (-3). Spaces are optional.

What is the difference between the three modes?

Extract puts all chosen pages into one PDF. Separate creates one PDF per range. Every N pages cuts the whole document into equal chunks. The last two download as a ZIP.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied exactly, including text, fonts and images. Nothing is re-rendered or compressed.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The file is read and split inside your browser. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Encrypted files are detected and rejected with a message. Remove the password first with the software that set it.

Why do I get a ZIP file?

When a split produces several PDFs, they are packed into one ZIP so you download a single file instead of dozens. Every operating system can open ZIP archives.

How large a file can I process?

There is no limit imposed by a server, because no server is involved. The limit is your device’s memory: a modern computer handles files of a few hundred megabytes, while phones are more comfortable below about 100 MB.

Which browsers are supported?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Samsung Internet on desktop, Android and iOS. JavaScript must be enabled, because the processing itself is JavaScript running on your device.
