What employers look for

Employers check your licence first: which country or authority issued it, whether it is valid and whether you are eligible to work where the job is. Put it at the top of the resume, close to your name and title.

Then show the setting and depth of your work. Hospital, clinical, community and industrial pharmacy each value different skills, such as medication reviews, dispensing volume, inventory control or regulatory work.

Patient safety is the strongest evidence. Mention medication errors prevented, interventions accepted by physicians, counselling volume and any accreditation you helped achieve.

How to match your resume to the job ad and ATS

  1. Find the licence the ad requires, such as a Ministry of Health, SCFHS, DHA or DOH licence, and state whether you hold it or are eligible.
  2. Match the setting: hospital, clinical, community, industrial or regulatory. Lead with experience from the same setting.
  3. Use the ad’s clinical and system terms, such as medication reconciliation, TPN, antimicrobial stewardship or the name of its pharmacy system.
  4. Add numbers that show volume and safety: prescriptions per day, interventions, error reductions and audit results.

ATS keywords to include

Use the ones that truly match your experience, in the same words as the job ad.

  • licensed pharmacist
  • dispensing
  • clinical pharmacy
  • medication review
  • patient counselling
  • drug interactions
  • inventory management
  • pharmacovigilance
  • controlled drugs
  • JCI

Achievement bullets you can adapt

  • Reviewed 120 inpatient prescriptions a day and made 15 to 20 clinical interventions weekly, with a 92% physician acceptance rate.
  • Reduced expired stock by 60% in a 3-branch community pharmacy by introducing first-expiry-first-out checks and monthly stock counts.
  • Counselled around 80 patients a day on new medications, inhalers and insulin use.
  • Supported the hospital’s JCI re-accreditation by updating high-alert medication procedures.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Hiding the licence at the bottom of the page or leaving out its validity date.
  • Listing generic duties without the setting, volume or clinical results.
  • Ignoring software. Many employers want experience with their pharmacy or hospital information system.

Before you send your application

Pharmacy employers usually ask for your licence, degree, transcript, good-standing letter and experience letters. Prepare valid copies as PDFs, and keep each file small enough for online portals.

If the portal limits file size, compress the PDF. If it accepts only one file, merge them into one PDF with your resume first.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include my licence number?

Include the licence type, the issuing authority and the validity date. Many employers ask for the number later, so you can keep it off the resume.

How do I show clinical pharmacy experience?

Describe medication reviews, ward rounds and interventions with numbers, such as reviews per day and acceptance rate.

Is community pharmacy experience valued by hospitals?

Yes. Counselling, dispensing accuracy and inventory skills transfer well. Highlight them and add any clinical training.

Is this template ATS-friendly?

Yes. It uses one column, standard headings and real text, so applicant tracking systems can read every line.

Should I mention a Pharm.D. or B.Pharm. separately?

Write the exact degree name, the university and the year. If you hold both, list the higher one first.

How long should a pharmacist resume be?

One page for most pharmacists; two pages for senior or clinical pharmacists with research, teaching or committee work.
