What employers look for

Schools want to know quickly what you teach, to whom and in which curriculum: for example “Mathematics, grades 7–10, IGCSE”. Put this in your title and summary.

Then prove your impact on learning: exam results, improvement over a year, programmes you started, and how you use technology and assessment data in class.

International and private schools often ask for a short teaching philosophy. You do not need a separate section: one sentence in your summary about how you teach, for example through problem solving or project-based learning, gives interviewers something concrete to ask about.

Achievement bullets you can adapt

  • Raised the grade 9 mathematics pass rate from 71% to 89% in two years.
  • Designed a peer-tutoring programme now used by 120 students across 3 grades.
  • Moved all assessments for 5 classes to Google Classroom, saving 4 hours of marking a week.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Forgetting grade levels and curricula, which schools filter on.
  • Describing classroom duties without any student results.
  • A long list of workshops. Keep the most relevant trainings and certifications.
  • Leaving out how you use assessment data. Schools increasingly expect teachers to track progress and adjust their teaching to it.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include a teaching licence?

Yes. Add it to the education section with the issuing authority and year.

How do I show results without exam data?

Use attendance, participation, project outcomes or feedback from evaluations and parents.

Should I add a photo?

Some schools in the region expect one, but a photo does not help ATS. If you add one, keep the resume itself text-based.

Is this template ATS-friendly?

Yes. One column, standard headings and selectable text.
